Challenge
Carwardine Coffee needed a partner able to present the company’s heritage and craftsmanship while delivering reliable ecommerce for both retail and trade customers. The client had an existing Magento store but required advice on whether that platform was the best fit for the business model and operational needs.
Our approach
Comtecs was engaged because of our cross-platform ecommerce experience. We began with discovery work to assess the current setup and the client’s priorities. That assessment showed Magento’s extensive feature set offered capabilities beyond what Carwardine Coffee required; many of Magento’s strengths are aimed at larger organisations with complex backend integrations.
On the basis of that analysis we recommended a move to a customised Shopify platform that better matched the company’s size and transactional requirements. The migration work included careful transfer of customer data, sales history, products and prices, along with template customisation and fixes to the user experience and checkout processes that had been causing friction in the previous store.
The project resulted in a more appropriate ecommerce solution for Carwardine Coffee: a simpler, more suitable platform for their operational needs that preserves their brand story while improving the buying experience for trade and consumer customers. Comtecs continues to provide support and improvements as the business evolves.
